Strupek

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

Strupek arrived at the shelter in a dramatic condition - he had no fur on half of his body, he was sick, neglected and resigned. For years he lived in an overgrown hut, because he was not a purebred, while two other dogs from the same family lived comfortably in the house. When he came to us, he wanted to become invisible. He turned his back, pretended he wasn't there, avoided contact. On walks, he didn't understand closeness, touch or affection. He didn't know that a person could bring something good. Then a miracle happened. After just two days, Strupek raised his tail and allowed himself to show that touch can bring comfort. Today he is an extraordinary companion. As soon as he leaves his crate, he curls up against a person, demands petting and is happy to see every volunteer. Walking is a great joy for him. Strupek is only now discovering what life is. On walks he is curious, walks very well on a leash, and in interactions with other dogs shows calmness and excellent communication. He is a gentle, friendly, understanding dog. He accepts everything with great calmness and delicacy. We are looking for a home for Strupka, which will appreciate his sensitivity and allow him to continue to mature peacefully into the role of a beloved and safe dog. Strupek could live with a family with older children and after proper introduction to the resident dog. He is about 5/6 years old. He is neutered and vaccinated.

PL·Show original

To pies łagodny, przyjacielski, wyrozumiały. Wszystko przyjmuje z ogromnym spokojem i delikatnością.

About Strupek

What life with Strupek looks like

Strupek is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja EkoStraż in Wrocław.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Strupek, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Strupek?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja EkoStraż handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Strupek on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Strupek if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja EkoStraż will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Strupek already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Strupek isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja EkoStraż early rather than rehoming privately; they know Strupek and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
