Struwwel

adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this dog! Struwwel has found its very own home! Your story: Our Struwwel looks with his wild black locks as if he had just stepped out of an 80s music video into the future. A dream for any dog groomer – and that sweet bedroom gaze, one just can't help but fall in love! A little star on four legs, who knows exactly how to wrap people around his paw. Struwwel is playful, curious, and always on an exploration. He loves people, enjoys playing with his siblings Axl, Slash, Joplin, and Reni, and is full of life. In him lies the perfect mix of explorer and cuddly bear. The latter is especially practical since he is so wonderfully fluffy. Ah… Unfortunately, fate hasn't been kind to Struwwel and his siblings so far. As they haven't found a home yet and have grown bigger, they had to leave their protected foster home and move into a loud, cold shelter. For young dogs, this is particularly hard – we hope so much that Slash can soon trade this stopover for a warm dog bed. Currently, Struwwel is about 4 months old and around 40 cm tall – plus his haircut 😉 He is expected to grow to be medium to large. He gets along well with other dogs, and cats have not yet been tested. His start in life was unfortunately anything but glamorous: His mom was poisoned after stealing a chicken from a garden out of hunger. A family or individual is sought who is up for the chaos of puppies, including the upcoming puberty, loving upbringing, shared adventures, and many cozy cuddle moments after an exciting day. Struwwel doesn't just want to be a pet, but a lifelong family member to go through thick and thin and fluffiness with. Judging by his impressive haircut, Struwwel likely carries herding dog genes and will therefore feel more comfortable in a rural environment. Herding dogs are loyal and closely connected to their people, but also vigilant and independent thinkers. Ideally, his future family already has some experience with or enjoys getting to know these special qualities. Struwwel is ready to travel and can be adopted immediately. He is then microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas, and of course brings his EU pet passport. For those who want to add a good dog groomer to their daily routine and give their life a portion of fluff power, Struwwel should definitely get a chance. Many thanks to Rüdiger K.! You named Struwwel! Date: 14.02.

Stand: 14.02.2026

About Struwwel

What life with Struwwel looks like

Struwwel is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Struwwel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Struwwel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Struwwel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Struwwel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Struwwel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Struwwel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Struwwel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
