adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Sue has found a home! Her story: Bistrita, Romania. Our lovely Sue – a chocolate-colored Labrador female dog with wonderful eyes is searching for her home! Sue is about 1 year old and a friendly, open female dog who captures hearts with her sweet nature in no time! She is about 50 cm tall and weighs around 22 kg. Sue is a true all-rounder: friendly to humans, dogs, and also cats. She was abandoned near the forest and had great fortune being found. Unfortunately, Sue's body cannot absorb zinc, so she has skin problems. Further medical details will follow soon. Labradors are convincing as gentle, balanced dogs who are friendly and agile. They usually love water and enjoy letting off steam during long walks. Labradors are brave dogs who are often seen as family dogs because they do not have a watch or protection instinct and generally do not show mistrust towards strangers. Therefore, they are also well-suited as guide dogs or therapy dogs. For Sue, we are looking for loving people who can show her how an appropriate life works. She does not know it and still has a lot to learn. But we are sure that Sue will always show her chocolate side and cooperatively explore her new life with her people. Sue looks forward to a positive training style and a visit to a dog training class where she might even find a dog hobby. Regular contact with her fellow animals, plenty of walks, and many snuggle sessions – that makes Sue happy! Sue is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. She brings her EU pet passport and can be taken to a new home after a positive assessment. Who will show Sue the sunny sides of life? Many thanks to Pia Alexa B.! You have given Sue her name and thus her identity!

About Sue

What life with Sue looks like

Sue is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sue, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sue?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sue on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sue if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sue already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sue isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sue and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
