Adopt Sue

Shih Tzu · Female · Adult · 6 years

09-05-26 Sue has come to us from a breeder and is now looking for her forever home. She is a lovely girl who is friendly, but understandably worried and overwhelmed to find herself in new surroundings. Once she gets to know you, Sue will come right up to say hello, enjoying a gentle sniff and taking treats from you. She isn’t used to being handled just yet and will move away if you try to stroke her, but she will start to come out of her shell with plenty of love and TLC. Sue will be looking for a calm and quiet home where she can settle at her own pace and will benefit from adopters with experience of scared dogs. She has never lived in a home before, so she will need patient and understanding adopters who can help her build confidence and learn all about life in a home for the very first time. This will include learning new skills like house training and how to walk on a lead. Sue relies on other dogs for confidence and comfort, so she will need another kind and confident resident dog in her new home to help guide her and give her reassurance as she adjusts to her new life. Sue is a sweet girl who just needs a chance, and we can’t wait to see her flourish in a loving forever home. She has a slightly undershot jaw, but this doesn't bother her. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Sue

What life with Sue looks like

Sue is a adult shih tzu dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sue, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sue?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sue on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sue if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sue already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sue isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sue and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
