Sueno

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 10 years

Seniors dogs are somehow magically enchanting, aren't they? They've seen a lot, often taught their humans more than the other way around, and they often appear melancholy yet content… Sueno is such a dog and that he ends up back at the animal shelter in his old age is truly tragic. Ten years ago, he was, as a puppy, already a resident of ARCA Sevilla. Back then, he found a loving home and lived happily there until now. His owner is severely ill and can no longer take care of his old friend. In his distress, he asked the animal welfare workers for help, and they of course did not hesitate and took Sueno back into their care with the firm promise to help him find happiness again. For Sueno, the return to the animal shelter is absolutely terrible. Not only has he lost his comfortable home and his primary caregiver, but now he must live among many others in this cold and stressful environment. It's now cold in Spain, and for a dog of his age, used to sleeping warm and secure, this is an experience we would have liked to spare him. Sueno is, for his approximately 10 years (as of December 2023), age-appropriately fit, he was always well cared for and is intensely seeking contact with people. One can see that he was lovingly treated and does not understand why he must be here and no one has time for him. Of course, Sueno is no longer a puppy and has a balanced and calm nature, but he simply wants to be present and receive attention in the form of cuddles. He gets along well with other dogs, but the times for wild play are too much for a dog of his age. A spry pensioner needs a second chance desperately, and it would be really important for Sueno to travel to a warm, cozy home with people who are fully aware of what a treasure he is. Sueno still has so much to give and he truly deserves to spend a few more years as a family member, loved and cared for.

About Sueno

What life with Sueno looks like

Sueno is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sueno, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sueno?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sueno on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sueno if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sueno already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sueno isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sueno and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
