SULTAN (M) - 2 YEARS - Looking for Adopters BLC W134005172 Characteristics Date of birth: 15/02/2023 Sex: Male Registered with LOF/LOSH/ISDS: No Disabilities: No Child friendly: YES tested from 8 years old Dog friendly: YES (except intact or dominant males) Cat friendly: to be tested Other friendly: No Character Sultan is a kind border collie, intact. His owner passed away, and he is currently in a foster home but will not be able to stay there for long. He has many qualities; he is a clean dog, who likes to travel by car and can be left alone. He has a good recall and walks on a leash or off-leash without any problem. He plays easily and gently with the young child in our foster family. Sultan is happy when he can swim, he is a fan of it. However, he becomes stressed when he is in the presence of an intact or dominant male, this issue will probably be resolved when he is neutered. Cats and other small animals should be avoided. Also, he has never been around very young children, so he could be a bit rough. Sultan is a very affectionate dog who deserves the love of a home; if he could be the only dog in the family, he would be fulfilled. Story After the death of his owner, Sultan was taken in before going to the SPA. He is a very kind, sociable and friendly dog. Ideal Home Ideally, Sultan would need a sporting family, ready to share physical as well as intellectual activities with him, like any border collie. A family with children over 8/9 years old would be ideal, but the most important thing for him is to be able to go for long walks every day, he is young and energetic. Borderline Collie is a non-profit association. In order to continue our work of fostering and retraining border collies, we ask for a contribution to adoption fees for the dogs we rehome. About SULTAN

What life with SULTAN looks like

SULTAN is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Border Line Collie in borderlinecollie.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting SULTAN, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about SULTAN?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Border Line Collie handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw SULTAN on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt SULTAN if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Border Line Collie will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is SULTAN already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if SULTAN isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Border Line Collie early rather than rehoming privately; they know SULTAN and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
