Adopt Sunny B

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

- waits at the animal shelter in Hungary - 🐾 Sunny🐾A gentle, proud female dog – overlooked for four years, now ready for her happinessSunny was found stray near a train station – alone, without a microchip, and with no trace of her past. No one claimed her. No one asked about her.During the past four years, she has lived with us at the animal shelter. And throughout all this time, there has not been a single adoption request for her.Despite that, Sunny is an impressive female dog – calm, strong, loving, and graceful. We have grown very fond of her, not just because of her appearance, but especially because of her demeanor: the gentle way she places her paws through the bars, the calm, clear gaze with which she meets people, and her fluid movements that lend a special elegance to her large body.Sunny has a close bond with Milka, another big dog with whom she shares her daily life. They understand each other exceptionally well. Sunny knows when clear commands are necessary, but she always communicates calmly and sovereignly within the canine community. Therefore, we can easily imagine that she could also live together with other dogs – especially those of similar size and laid-back nature. In total, Sunny is mostly calm, observant, friendly, and very dignified – a female dog with depth and presence.Sunny is looking for people who are ready to finally show her life outside the animal shelter – after so many years of waiting. A quiet household would be ideal, with individuals who bring patience and love. Dog experience is desirable, as is a conscious understanding of what it means to take in a large dog.A home with a yard would be a dream come true for her.Sunny is approximately 58 cm tall and weighs around 34 kg. Cats are not among her friends. She walks well on a leash and is thrilled to be allowed out of her kennel sometimes. An August 2025 Caniv 4D test was negative.Do you see the light in Sunny that no one else has seen yet? Then get in touch with us – maybe now is exactly her time. Best placed with a resident dog (second-dog home).

About Sunny B

What life with Sunny B looks like

Sunny B is a extra-large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hundepfoten Steinfurt e.V. in Nordwalde.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sunny B, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sunny B?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundepfoten Steinfurt e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sunny B on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sunny B if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundepfoten Steinfurt e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sunny B already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sunny B isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundepfoten Steinfurt e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sunny B and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
