adoption requirements adoption process Adopt now this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Sunny has quickly snagged his ticket to happiness! His story: Zalau, Romania. Labrador fans take note. Sunny Sunny is searching for a forever home. This handsome, large, and stately Labrador with dreamy measurements of 31 kg and 61 cm not only looks golden but also has a golden heart. With his charming smile and very loving nature, he brings sunshine into the hearts of all who meet him. Sunny is very well-trained. He knows the basic commands and walks well on a leash. Clearly, he had previous owners. Our helpers rescued him from the public animal shelter in Zalau. We unfortunately cannot say why he no longer lives with his original owners. He craves human company and loves being spoiled by them. He also gets along well with other dogs. Cats have not yet been tested. Now, Sunny is on the hunt for a sporty family that will shower him with the affection he so desperately desires. Sunny is still very young and may still occasionally have some teenage mood swings. So, it's not surprising if he sometimes questions what he has learned so far, but with much patience and a loving, consistent upbringing, this phase can be overcome together. And even though Sunny sounds like the absolute dream dog, he should be given enough time at first to get to know his new surroundings. Even though he probably already knows what life in the house is like, he could also have a minor mishap or two at the beginning. Sunny is a perfect family dog, but he also wants to be kept busy. The Labrador is an agile creature that wants to be physically challenged. Sunny also doesn't mind being mentally challenged. Since Labradors love to carry things, this should be a minimum of mental stimulation that can be incorporated into the not-too-short walks. Sunny is already on his packed suitcase. He travels microchipped, neutered, vaccinated, flea-treated, and vaccinated. He also has his EU pet passport in his luggage. Even with a foster home, Sunny would be thrilled. Who will give the lively Sunny a loving home? Many thanks to Kirsten, who gave Sunny a very fitting name and paved the way for a new beginning.

About Sunny

What life with Sunny looks like

Sunny is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sunny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sunny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sunny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sunny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sunny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sunny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sunny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
