Adopt Susanna

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 5 months

The veterinarian with whom we occasionally collaborate in Sassari also has a practice in Macomer. And it seems that word has gotten around that the veterinarian has good contacts that make it possible to help unwanted animals. So our partners in Stintino were asked for help with these three puppies who were born unwanted. Of course, our partners did not refuse and took the three female puppies into their home. We met the trio during our project trip in mid-March 2026. The three girls—now named Sarina, Susanna, and Susina—have settled in well. They are well cared for, and there are plenty of friends for play and cuddles. The handsome tiger kitten, who by the way enjoys it very much, is often included in the games. The beautiful large dog bed, which came from a donation campaign in Switzerland, is a much-loved resting place. There, they can rest and recharge their energy for the next play session. Even though Sarina, Susanna, and Susina are very comfortable: they should of course not stay in the rescue forever. As soon as the legal requirements allow, they should be allowed to embark on their journey to Germany. There, they should find a forever home with loving people. Would you like to give one of the adorable female puppies the chance at a good life with a close family connection? May 1, 2026: Susanna was allowed to travel to her German foster home. If you are currently looking for a new furry family member and are aware that adoption means not only joy but also work and great responsibility, we look forward to your message. We provide support throughout Germany.

About Susanna

What life with Susanna looks like

Susanna is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Susanna, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Susanna?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Susanna on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Susanna if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Susanna already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Susanna isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Susanna and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
