Sushi

Jack Russell Terrier · Female · Senior · 10 years

Sushi is an energetic and cheerful female dog. A big spirit sleeps in her small body – she is brave and curious about the world. We suspect that she has a Jack Russell terrier in her blood – she is lively and intelligent. We don't understand why this loving female dog is still in the animal shelter. When people enter the enclosure, Sushi is delighted with her whole body, jumps with joy and happily gives kisses. Sushi has several favorite dog friends, but in relationships with other dogs, she usually takes charge and decides who she wants to spend time with. Just to be safe, at the beginning of a walk, she barks to signal to other dogs who is the boss. Sushi is ready to go to a new home. She can walk on a leash, is able to adjust her pace to match a person's and happily jumps into a car. She is not afraid of the city or new people. Sushi had a spleen removal surgery in the animal shelter. The female dog feels physically well. We are looking for a caring caregiver who will give her love and proper care. She will fit in both a single person's home, a couple's apartment, and a larger family. Sushi would like to spend the second half of her life by the side of the one person to whom she can give her whole dog heart. We are convinced that she will bring a lot of joy into the life of her future caregiver. We invite you for a meet-and-greet walk. Sushi is under the care of group G1.

Sushi to energiczna i wesoła sunia. Ostatnio sunia wzięła sprawy w swoje łapki i postanowiła wskoczyć do samochodu by wyruszyć na Pole Mokotowskie z okazji Warszawskiego Dnia Zwierząt.

About Sushi

What life with Sushi looks like

Sushi is a small senior jack russell terrier dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: Health issues requiring careful medical attention

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sushi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sushi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sushi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sushi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sushi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sushi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sushi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
