Susie

Mixed Breed Cat · Female · Senior · 12 years

Personality:Susie is a very sweet, chilled back girl. She loves the attention from socialisers and will sit patiently waiting for her turn each day. Sometimes meowing if she sees someone. She is still quite active and enjoys exploring. Behaviour:Susie enjoys some gentle fuss. She will follow socialisers around the unit and then settle nearby. She purrs away and rubs around for the attention. She often doesn’t want socialisers to leave and will keep nudging their hands to as for more strokes. When she is undisturbed in her unit, she gets comfy either in her bed or on a blanket and has a snooze. Housing:Susie will need a home with outside access to a garden. She cannot be homed in Gosport po12 area. Children/pets:As Susie is in her senior years, she is looking for a quiet household, she can possibly live with older secondary school aged children if they are calm around her. She will need to be the only cat/dog in the household. Vet history:Susie is neutered, microchipped, flea, wormed and fully vaccinated. Susie is on a Purina pro plan hypoallergenic dry food and AVA hypoallergenic wet food in our care. This is to help with potential allergies. Adopters can discuss trialing other diets if they wish with their own vets. Susie has had a short course of steroids whilst in our care which has improved her skin and she is currently doing well. Adopters should be aware that she may need a short course of steroids in future if in the event of any more skin flare ups. Susie possibly has a mild entropion to both lower eye lids. It is unlikely she will require surgery but adopters should monitor and seek advice from their vets if necessary. 4 weeks free pet insurance included with adoption. About Susie

What life with Susie looks like

Susie is a senior mixed breed cat cat waiting at RSPCA Solent Branch CIO - The Stubbington Ark in United Kingdom.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Susie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Susie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Solent Branch CIO - The Stubbington Ark handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Susie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Susie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Solent Branch CIO - The Stubbington Ark will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Susie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Susie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Solent Branch CIO - The Stubbington Ark early rather than rehoming privately; they know Susie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
