Findus

Mixed Breed Cat · Male · Young · 1 year

Personality:Poor Findus came into our care after being reported as a stray due to being abandoned by his previous owner. He was trapped by a kind member of the public who took him to a vet due to severe matting on his sides. Findus took time to settle and trust people; he would often sit at a distance slow blinking at us. Over time, he has created a lovely bond with a few members of staff and will now meow at them when they approach his pen. He has settled really well and is showing his beautiful personality, he is a gentle boy and a real sweetheart. Behaviour:Findus took a little while to create a bond with us but he was certainly worth the wait! With his trusted handlers he will come to greet them and will rub around their legs. He will either lay next to them if they are sat on the floor or will jump up on his favourite shelf and roll around like a tart! He is a very affectionate boy who will gently head butt your hand to be stroked. He has started to show a playful side with a variety of toys. Apart from being stroked, his favourite thing is to be brushed to maintain his handsome good looks. He becomes quite animated when he sees you have one and will even lie on his back for you to groom his belly. Housing:Findus can be quite sensitive to sudden movements and would benefit from his own unused room whilst he settles. He will need a home with outside access to a garden. Findus cannot be homed in the SO19 area of Southampton. Children/pets:Findus will need to be an only pet in a calm and quiet adult only home. Vet history:Findus is neutered, microchipped, flea, wormed and fully vaccinated. Findus has no known medical conditions. 4 weeks free pet insurance included with adoption. Adoption fee:The adoption fee is £100. If you would like to make an additional donation over and above the adoption fee, this would be hugely appreciated. Additional information:All rented and leasehold properties will require written consent from the property owner or agent. This needs to be in place before completing an application form. About Findus

What life with Findus looks like

Findus is a young adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at RSPCA Solent Branch CIO - The Stubbington Ark in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Findus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Findus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Solent Branch CIO - The Stubbington Ark handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Findus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Findus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Solent Branch CIO - The Stubbington Ark will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Findus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Findus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Solent Branch CIO - The Stubbington Ark early rather than rehoming privately; they know Findus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
