Suzi

Female · Adult · 6 years

TTB can be tricky, and the rule that TTB is not for everyone only confirms this, Suzi – our beautiful red female dog – is once again looking for her place on earth. After two years she returned from adoption and is now waiting for a loving home that will never let her down. What do we know about Suzi after this time? Suzi is a shy dog. Sudden sounds can startle her and then she may react in various ways. She is about four years old and is a dog who strongly bonds with her caretakers. She loves human contact, although sometimes she needs a moment to trust – especially with men. However, when she feels support and understanding, she gives her whole heart. On walks: She walks nicely on a leash, although she sometimes pulls when excited. She may bark at dogs that provoke her. She knows commands and is eager to work with a guide. At home: Usually calm, she is happy to see her people and guests. She loves attention, especially after a day with less activity. She should be an only dog – other dogs in the house are too much stress for her. She had no problem being left alone, and any troubling behavior quickly calmed down during work on it. She does not like grooming procedures, such as giving medication or trimming nails, and since she was not trained to wear a muzzle, she may direct all accompanying emotions to the caregiver in great stress or pain and consequently bite. However, this is not an insurmountable barrier – the basis, however, is training to use a muzzle and using it during painful grooming or medical procedures or visits to the veterinarian. Suzi needs clear boundaries, because after some time she tries to cross them. For whom is Suzi? For a consistent, but warm and understanding person. Best suited for a quieter area – although she lived in the city and found her way there. A home without small children and other animals. Someone who understands the needs of TTB dogs and will provide her with stability and a sense of security. People with experience with shy dogs who read the signals.

Zna komendy, i chętnie pracuje z przewodnikiem. Najlepiej do spokojniejszej okolicy – chociaż mieszkała w mieście I się w nim odnajdywała. Do domu bez małych dzieci i innych zwierząt. Kogoś, kto rozumie potrzeby psów w typie TTB i zapewni jej stabilność oraz poczucie bezpieczeństwa. Osoby z doświadczeniem z psami lękowymi, która czyta sygnały. About Suzi

What life with Suzi looks like

Suzi is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Anxious dog requiring muzzle training for medical procedures, needs to be only pet, requires experienced handler for fear-based behaviors

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Suzi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Suzi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Suzi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Suzi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Suzi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Suzi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Suzi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
