Suzie

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 2 months

Suzie has survived her first difficult weeks and is now facing all the things that come with being a young dog: discovering, learning, playing, and gradually becoming more independent. Suzie is one of eight siblings who survived a very difficult start. Her mother, Novia, was brought to the animal shelter by animal rights activists as part of a spaying campaign in Bologa. It wasn't until a few hours later that they learned she had ten puppies just a few days old, who were eventually brought to the shelter in a box. Novia herself was severely underweight, dehydrated, and too weak to care for her large family alone. The puppies were fed. At the same time, Fiene, another dog mother with two of her own puppies, took in several of Novia's babies and helped raise them. Two of the original ten puppies died despite all efforts. Suzie is one of the eight surviving puppies. Now, the helpless baby can grow into a curious young dog who must still learn about the world. Like any puppy, Suzie still has much to learn. Housebreaking, walking on a leash, driving, household noises, visitors, staying calm, and even staying alone for short periods are not things that a young dog automatically masters. All of this should be built up step by step and with patience. It is equally important to have enough sleep and rest periods - a puppy does not need to be constantly busy. And puberty will come at some point. Then, what has been learned can suddenly be questioned again, concentration can fluctuate, and smells or other dogs can suddenly be more interesting than the person on the other end of the leash. This is a normal part of development. Loving consistency, clear structures, and a little humor help through this time much better than pressure or punishment. Optically, Suzie could have a share of a livestock guardian mixed in. Livestock guardian dogs were bred to act independently, observe their surroundings attentively, and make decisions without constant human guidance. As they age, independence, vigilance, and territorial behavior may become more pronounced. This is not "disobedience," but can be part of their original task. Therefore, we are looking for people who will deal with livestock guardian dogs and their needs before adopting Suzie. A more rural home with enough space and ideally a securely fenced garden would be especially nice. Clear, fair rules, peace, patience, and an upbringing without harshness are important. A positively working dog school, preferably with experience with livestock guardian dogs or their mixes, can meaningfully accompany the development. Since Suzie is still growing, we cannot reliably predict her later size and final development. Therefore, those who decide for her should not only see the cute puppy but also the adult female dog she will become. Suzie is chipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-free. She is ready to travel by the end of October and will travel with her EU pet passport. She will be placed with a protective contract and a protective fee after a positive preliminary check. We would also be happy to find a suitable foster home for her. Many thanks to the namesake Michaela, who gave Suzie her name. Status: 17.09.2026 Further information on the preliminary check and the protective fee

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Suzie

What life with Suzie looks like

Suzie is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Suzie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Suzie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Suzie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Suzie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Suzie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Suzie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Suzie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
