Swift

Persian · Female · Young · 2 years

Swift is a young Staffy cross full of personality, enthusiasm, and potential. She is now looking for a home where she can continue to grow, learn, and thrive. She has had multiple successful play dates with other dogs at the centre and shows lovely manners in play. She listens well to the other dog and engages appropriately, showing a really nice understanding of canine communication. At this stage, Swift would prefer to be the only dog in the home while she continues to build on her skills and confidence and becomes the queen of her canine education. In the future, once she is more settled and further along in her development, she may well enjoy sharing her home with a compatible canine companion. Swift is an active, fun loving girl who enjoys her walks, playtime, and spending quality time with her people. She is still learning about the world around her and is growing in confidence through positive experiences. She responds very well to reward based training and is keen to learn, especially when tasty treats and encouragement are involved. With consistent guidance, she will continue to make a wonderful companion. Swift can be very enthusiastic when first heading out on walks, but once she has had a chance to burn off her initial excitement, she settles nicely and enjoys exploring at a more relaxed pace. She is affectionate, people focused, and enjoys human company. She will benefit from a home that can provide structure, enrichment, and ongoing training to keep her mind and body fulfilled. Swift is looking for an active, committed home where she can continue her training and development and enjoy a full and happy life. Suitability for children would be assessed on an individual basis. If you are looking for a fun, loving, and rewarding young companion, Swift could be the perfect match.

About Swift

What life with Swift looks like

Swift is a medium-sized young adult persian dog waiting at Cardiff Dogs Home.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Swift, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Swift?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Cardiff Dogs Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Swift on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Swift if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Cardiff Dogs Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Swift already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Swift isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Cardiff Dogs Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Swift and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
