Swiss

Unknown · Adult · 8 years

Swiss is a handsome black-and-white cat. His birth date is estimated to be March 11, 2018. Stray from the street, he came to our shelter. Unfortunately, no chip, no registration number. Now, we have the honor of finding a forever home for this 8-year-old sweetheart. Staying at the shelter is not ideal for Swiss. He is a bit stress-sensitive and needs more peace and stability in a quiet environment in a one- or two-person household without children and other animals. To make the stress within the shelter a bit more bearable, he gets Calm treats. This could change after some time if he is placed with the right match. An owner(s) where Swiss can be himself. Patience and love in his future home, and where no expectations are placed on him. Trust, space, and a daily yummy treat will help him relax. A safe haven where he can feel safe and observe from a distance if needed. Swiss could flourish if he gets to set his own pace and his owner(s) are okay with that, regardless of how it progresses. Do you have all the qualities Swiss needs? Do you have that quiet household where a forever home is waiting for Swiss? If yes, your answer is the first step to take. This animal is not suitable for homes with children.

About Swiss

What life with Swiss looks like

Swiss is a adult cat waiting at Hokazo in Uden.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Swiss, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Swiss?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hokazo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Swiss on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Swiss if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hokazo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Swiss already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Swiss isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hokazo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Swiss and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
