SYD

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Male Spayed X English Pointer Born on 01/05/2017 Microchipped 250268781256112 SYD arrived at the shelter in December 2024, coming from the pound. He had found hope by being adopted last July, but unfortunately returned to the shelter after a few weeks... SYD is a dynamic dog, always ready for a long walk. He's clearly not a couch potato! He will be delighted to accompany you on all your adventures and outdoor activities. Playful, he has a little weakness for balls, which he loves to chase. Despite his energy, SYD remains an independent dog: he's not the most demonstrative when it comes to cuddles. He needs his space and his future family must respect his pace and avoid sudden contacts. SYD can also be a bit too protective towards his family. Work will therefore need to be done on this aspect of his personality, with calm and consistency. For this reason, we will not place him in a home with young children. SYD will thrive in a calm, patient family, able to understand and respect canine codes, and ready to build a relationship based on trust. If you think you can offer him this chance, don't hesitate to contact us or come directly to the shelter!

About SYD

What life with SYD looks like

SYD is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at SPA de Basse-Normandie in Verson.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting SYD, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about SYD?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA de Basse-Normandie handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw SYD on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt SYD if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA de Basse-Normandie will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is SYD already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if SYD isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA de Basse-Normandie early rather than rehoming privately; they know SYD and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
