Syntia

Mixed Breed · Female

War kills, maims bodies, destroys minds, takes homes, and breaks families. This applies not only to people – animals suffer too. Syntia is an example of that – she arrived with us from war-torn Ukraine. She ended up at an animal shelter there. Where did she come from? Was someone loving her? Did she have a family? What happened to her? We don’t know. We first met her as a frightened, afraid-of-its-own-shadow dog. Fortunately, this wonderful female dog, though still wary, began to open up to people. She can be petted and goes on walks. She still needs time to fully trust, but she’s breaking down faster. When she gets to know someone, she’ll be picked up, hugged, and lick faces. She loves other dogs. She’s small and slender. She weighs 15 kg and has been spayed. She’s young, with everything ahead of her. We wait for a better fate for this beautiful girl, who has experienced so much, and we believe she will have a wonderful life with good people by her side. May our animal shelter be only a short stop on her path to happiness.

Tam trafiła do schroniska.

About Syntia

What life with Syntia looks like

Syntia is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Syntia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Syntia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Syntia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Syntia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Syntia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Syntia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku early rather than rehoming privately; they know Syntia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
