Adopt Szczota

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Szczot's story was taken in along with her siblings from a place where there were too many cats and too little affection. Two of them unfortunately got sick and could not be saved, while the other two sisters found homes. She was the last one left, and we hope her fate will change soon. Our shared adventure with Szczot began rather roughly. She didn't let anyone touch her and was a typical feral cat, who sometimes made us run away. The new place did not excite her, and her trust in people was zero. Each of us wished to touch her and see her beautiful face up close, but Szczot had her own pace. Today she is a completely different cat. Petting, rubbing, presenting her bottom and cheek have become part of her daily routine. We are amazed by this transformation. Nothing was forced upon her. Her cat friends played a big role; they entertained her so much that she didn't even notice the moment when she started playing with people and lining up for treats.

Każdy z nas marzył, by móc ją dotknąć i zobaczyć z bliska tę piękną mordkę, ale Szczota miała swoje tempo.

About Szczota

What life with Szczota looks like

Szczota is a small adult mixed breed cat waiting at Fundacja Psy Ulicy Warszawa in Warszawa.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Szczota, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Szczota?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Psy Ulicy Warszawa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Szczota on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Szczota if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Psy Ulicy Warszawa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Szczota already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Szczota isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Psy Ulicy Warszawa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Szczota and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
