Szejka

Female · Adult · 7 years

Szejka is a 7-year-old, exceptionally gentle female dog whom we can truly say is a genuine "sunshine." She is a typical couch potato who must have been very closely tied to her human in her previous life. She feels the safest under Szejka's care. However, her world crumbled when she arrived at the shelter. Szejka struggles greatly with shelter conditions. The beginnings were traumatic for her – the noise and new surroundings paralyzed her so much that volunteers had to carry her out of her kennel. Today, Szejka is making huge strides: she is slowly overcoming her fears and beginning to go for walks on her own, though she still gets scared in new situations. What kind of home is Szejka looking for? Szejka does not have complicated behavioral requirements. What she needs most is: • closeness and human love, • a sense of security that will allow her to fully trust the world again, • a calm home where she can regain her status as a "couch potato." We are looking for someone who will surround her with care and understand her delicate nature. Szejka will repay your devotion with boundless loyalty – she simply must feel that she is important to someone. Give Szejka the safety she so desperately needs. Come, meet her and let her become a part of your life. Psubraty on FB: Psubraty on Instagram:

PL·Show original

To, czego potrzebuje najbardziej, to: • bliskość i miłość człowieka, • poczucie bezpieczeństwa, które pozwoli jej znów w pełni zaufać światu, • spokojny dom, w którym odzyska swój status „pieska kanapowego”. Szukamy kogoś, kto otoczy ją opieką i zrozumie jej delikatną naturę.

About Szejka

What life with Szejka looks like

Szejka is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Shelter trauma - very fearful, needs patient socialization and gradual introduction to new environments

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Szejka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Szejka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Szejka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Szejka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Szejka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Szejka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Szejka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
