Szivar

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

Szivar's story is unfortunately almost typical. There was an old man in poor health, and to not feel lonely he was given a "sweet little cub" puppy as a gift. No one around him expected that the "little cub" would quickly grow into a "big cub," who rapidly grew on his elderly owner's head. The lack of training and upbringing caused serious problems. Because of his owner's illness, he was unable to care for him. Our Foundation was contacted by the local veterinarian with a request for help, and sadly the possibility of euthanasia was discussed. At the first petting, he scaredly pulled his wrist away, not knowing human touch. After a few hours, his personality unfolded, and we managed to bring out a wonderful, playful, jolly, big-hearted giant. Szivar is now experiencing his puppyhood, and we are teaching him ball games, which are presumably things he missed in his previous life. We are looking for a responsible owner who can help him forget his missteps and care for him as a full family member until the end of his life. For Szivar, dog school is strongly recommended. Adoptable, vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered. Attention! Szivar is located at our Szeged branch, you can inquire about him via email! More pictures HERE!

Szivar most éli kölyökkorát, most tanuljuk a labdajátkokat, feltételezhetően ezek a dolgok mind kimaradtak eddigi életéből. Olyan felelősségteljes gazdit keresünk számára, aki feledtetni tudja félresiklott életét és teljes jogú családtagként élete végéig gondoskodik róla.Szivar esetében a kutyaiskola erősen javasolt.Oltva, chipezve, ivartalanítva fogadható örökbe.Figyelem! About Szivar

What life with Szivar looks like

Szivar is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Noé Állatotthon in Budapest.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Needs dog training school, lacks proper socialization

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Szivar, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Szivar?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Noé Állatotthon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Szivar on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Szivar if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Noé Állatotthon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Szivar already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Szivar isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Noé Állatotthon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Szivar and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
