Adopt Szprotka

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Szprotka came to us from Warmia, from a herd that had been provided with food and basic nourishment by local feeders, but that was where the help ended. There was no chance for any treatment, and Szprotka was sick. Thanks to the help of kind-hearted people, she had the opportunity to recover, get vaccinations, deworming, and a trip to Warsaw to end up with us and receive a chance for a new, better life. She is affectionate, likes to rub against things, knead, and rub against, but she clearly sets a boundary when being picked up. She definitely does not like this and her future owner will have to respect this. The little cat is not afraid of people, but it is evident that she is somewhat shy by nature. She definitely needs a moment to get used to a new person and fully enjoy the petting. She likes to sit by the window and watch the world outside. She also loves to eat, apparently making up for the lean years that left marks on her beautiful fur. Fortunately, Szprotka is recovering and becoming a wonderful, brown beauty. Unfortunately, it is visible that in a large herd Szprotka does not feel best, so when there are too many cats around, the girl closes herself off and retreats to a safe corner.

About Szprotka

What life with Szprotka looks like

Szprotka is a small adult mixed breed cat waiting at Fundacja Psy Ulicy Warszawa in Warszawa.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Szprotka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Szprotka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Psy Ulicy Warszawa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Szprotka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Szprotka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Psy Ulicy Warszawa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Szprotka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Szprotka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Psy Ulicy Warszawa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Szprotka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
