Taavi (Benni)

Mixed Breed · Unknown

A male dog, approximately 50-55cm tall, weighing around 22kg, is available for adoption at a foster home in 66125 Dudweiler. Background: Sometimes life doesn't go as planned. Temperament: Taavi is a confident male dog with a strong personality. He needs people who can provide him with security, clear rules, and consistent, authoritative leadership. Important note: Taavi has a history of biting. In situations where he feels uncomfortable or insecure, he may lash out instead of retreating. He is not a dog that avoids unpleasant situations, but may instead seek direct confrontation. The last known incident occurred about two and a half years ago. At that time, several unfavorable circumstances came together while Taavi and another dog were being cared for by his owner's sister. Nevertheless, this behavior must be taken seriously. His future owners must be able to read his body language, recognize potential triggers, and manage situations proactively. There are also uncertainties when it comes to interacting with children. Therefore, a home without children is desired, where Taavi's boundaries are respected and he is not put in situations that overwhelm him. Taavi is not a dog for beginners. He needs experienced dog owners who are aware of their responsibility and can approach him calmly, clearly, and consistently. He also has a strong prey drive, which is why he must be securely leashed and managed in everyday life. In everyday life, Taavi is otherwise a straightforward companion. He can easily stay home alone and accompany his owners to work, for example, where he behaves calmly in his bed. It is important that he gets enough rest and that strangers do not approach him uninvited. What we wish for Taavi: A home without children with clear rules and reliable structures People who understand his body language, respect his boundaries, and act proactively A safe approach to his history of biting and his behavior in stressful situations The willingness to work with a qualified dog trainer if needed Taavi is not a dog that can be left to run around freely. He needs people who can realistically assess him, take responsibility, and give him the necessary security. At the same time, he brings many pleasant qualities and can be a loyal companion in the right environment. We wish for him a home where his needs are understood and where he has the chance to settle in permanently. Who has the necessary experience and can give Taavi a fair chance? We welcome messages from anyone with serious interest or questions. *We would like to expressly point out that behavior can change in a new environment after some time. This should be taken into account with every adoption! Self-report for adoption

Selbstauskunft Adoption

About Taavi (Benni)

What life with Taavi (Benni) looks like

Taavi (Benni) is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Kleine & große Pfoten e.V. in Germany (national, Bulgaria rescue focus).

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Taavi (Benni), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Taavi (Benni)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Kleine & große Pfoten e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Taavi (Benni) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Taavi (Benni) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Kleine & große Pfoten e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Taavi (Benni) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Taavi (Benni) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Kleine & große Pfoten e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Taavi (Benni) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
