Taco

Podenco · Male · Adult · 4 years

July 2026: With a heavy heart, we are seeking a new, loving home for our dear Taco. Due to the expansion of our family, we have noticed that Taco is finding it increasingly difficult to cope with the presence of children. He experiences them as unpredictable, which causes him a lot of stress. Therefore, we have made the difficult decision to find him a place where he can be himself again and enjoy a quiet and carefree dog life. Taco would be happiest in a family without children, although teenagers are possible. He would prefer to be placed as a single dog because he likes all the attention for himself. A home without cats or small rodents is preferred. Who is Taco? An incredibly sweet and affectionate dog who loves to cuddle and regularly seeks contact himself. He enjoys quiet walks and walks nicely on a leash. Going off-leash is not an option for Taco; he should always stay on a leash outside. Car rides are no problem. He travels quietly in his travel crate, even for longer distances. He loves to lounge in the garden, with the sun on his snout, and can enjoy that for hours. In the evening, he likes to lie out in the armchair to relax together. Sleeping in is also one of his favorite hobbies. He sleeps neatly in his crate every night. Taco is fully house-trained and can easily stay alone for longer periods of time. It is important to know that when he has managed to get something tasty outside his daily food, he can protectively defend it. If he sees another animal on television, he may react by barking. We are looking for a guardian or family for Taco who can give him the rest, love and safety he deserves. In the right environment, he is a loyal, sweet companion who enjoys the little things in life. Do you think you can offer Taco the warm home he is looking for? Please feel free to contact us.

Wie is Taco?

About Taco

What life with Taco looks like

Taco is a small adult podenco dog waiting at ACE / SHIN (Animal Care Espana) in Spain.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Taco, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Taco?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ACE / SHIN (Animal Care Espana) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Taco on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Taco if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ACE / SHIN (Animal Care Espana) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Taco already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Taco isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ACE / SHIN (Animal Care Espana) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Taco and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
