Taif

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

healthy, vaccinated, microchipped, neutered Taif is a ray of sunshine on four legs. Cheerful, gentle, incredibly friendly, and full of love for people. Closeness is everything to him. He seeks contact, delights in every word, every glance, every small attention, and is happiest when he’s right in the middle of things. With children, he’s especially affectionate, and he also meets strangers openly and friendly. With his person, Taif is all about being together. A trip to the park, a little road trip, a visit to the vet clinic, as long as it’s together. In the car, he travels calmly, especially if someone sits in the back and occasionally scratches behind his ear. Then he immediately relaxes and enjoys the ride. Taif wants to do everything right. He knows a few basic commands, gives his paw, and keeps looking into the eyes, as if asking: Was that good? One can clearly see how much the connection to the person and their approval mean to him. Outdoors, Taif is a lively companion. He is on a leash and reliably settles down outside. At the beginning of the round, he can pull a bit in joy, but after a few minutes, he walks calmly by and enjoys the walk. He behaves calmly and exemplary in shopping centers, cafes, and at events, that is, wherever there are many people and other dogs. What’s important is that his person is nearby. With female dogs, Taif is very friendly and gentle. With male dogs, especially young and pushy ones, he can sometimes get impatient. He has a rather confident character and doesn’t like being crowded. With calm male dogs, it works well, and he has a few buddies among the boys. Taif has only known cats from a distance. He has observed them curiously without getting aggressive. Taif loves treats very much. It’s important not to overfeed him, as he sometimes tries to eat on reserve. This comes from his past. And that past is sadly tragic. About two years ago, Taif had a home, but not a good one. He lived with people with alcohol problems, received too little food, hardly any walks, and was eventually left tied up in front of a store. For hours, he sat in the cold until volunteer helpers noticed and rescued him. Today, Taif lives in a foster home. His foster mom speaks very lovingly about him: “Taif is my favorite bear. He’s so happy about our closeness and is sad when I have to leave. He bonds very strongly with his person. Other dogs are not really necessary for him; his greatest treasure is the relationship with a person. Sometimes I think he still considers himself a puppy. When I come home, he jumps and runs with joy, showing his belly for petting. He’s like a child, sweet and touching. Taif loves walks and exploring everything. He doesn’t dare to swim without his person; he prefers to stand in the water and watch the ducks. An incredibly clever boy.” Taif now wishes for his real home. A family that loves him, gives him time, and really lets him be. Whether you live more quietly or are active on the go, whether with children or without, Taif fits many. As long as he can belong. Whoever adopts Taif gets a loyal, warm-hearted companion who brightens up every day a little. Walks well on a leash.

DE·Show original

About Taif

What life with Taif looks like

Taif is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Russische Tiere in Not e.V. in Gladbeck.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Taif, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Taif?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Russische Tiere in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Taif on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Taif if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Russische Tiere in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Taif already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Taif isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Russische Tiere in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Taif and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
