Adopt Talisha

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 9 years

Profile Age: born approximately 2021 Gender: female Spayed: yes Character: shy towards people, but always friendly, compatible with other dogs Size: approximately 45 cm in the shelter since: December 2022 Hello dear people out there! I still look quite uncertain into the camera - my eyes reveal that I haven't always had an easy life. I am one of the rather shy dog girls here and try to find my way in this loud and hectic shelter world. It's not always easy for me, because before I came here, I lived on the street. My daily routine consisted of searching for food, finding shelter and escaping dangers. Being constantly on guard has shaped me - and that's exactly why I'm so infinitely grateful that I've now found a small piece of security here. But fear still sits deep within me. I would love to trust, to allow closeness, but I don't yet know how to do that. I allow myself to be touched, but my heart hasn't understood yet that petting can also mean love. What I therefore wish for are people with lots of patience, love and understanding. People who give me the time I need to gradually let go of my fears. Until then, I try every day to become a little braver. And who knows - maybe somewhere out there is exactly my person who shows me that I no longer have to fight, but can finally arrive. If you are interested in Talisha, please fill out our interest form () or send us an email at or a message via Facebook. Talisha is ready for adoption and can travel to Germany with the next transport. Our dogs travel legally with Traces. Traces refers to the database system used to monitor all animal traffic within the EU. The dogs travel neutered (if old enough), vaccinated, microchipped and dewormed and have an EU passport. In addition, a rapid test for the following Mediterranean diseases is carried out for dogs over 12 months before departure: Borreliosis, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis, Dirofilariasis and Leishmaniasis. Maya T. has taken on the sponsorship of Talisha and thus ensures a filled bowl. Many thanks on behalf of the dogs!

About Talisha

What life with Talisha looks like

Talisha is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Talisha, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Talisha?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Talisha on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Talisha if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Talisha already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Talisha isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Talisha and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
