Adopt Tamena (vermittelt)

Border Collie · Female · Adult · 4 years

Name: Tamena Born: March 2022 Gender: Female Breed: Mixed breed (likely Border Collie-Mix) Size: Will be medium-sized Foster Home: Tamena now has finally found a wonderful home. We are very happy for the mouse and wish her many exciting adventures. The ages mentioned here are often estimated values, as we do not always know the exact age. Other information, such as size, is subjective. Unfortunately, we know nothing about her history… Currently, she lives in a large Romanian animal shelter in a small pen with over 20 other puppies together… not a place where a dog should stay for long… Foster Home Report: By appearance and temperament, a smart portion of Border Collie could be in her. Tamena lives here with dogs and cats and has already met cyclists, joggers, riders, and livestock. She observes attentively, is open-minded, and for her age, is quiet and focused. She learns "on the go" and is available for any cooperation. She searches for food with concentration, goes out nicely on a leash, and the indoor potty training is already going well when the humans are attentive. Of course, she is still a typical puppy, playful, and can get excited, but she can be gently brought back down and is never pushy. Training Tamena is easy. She shows a border-type work readiness without being overly excited. She definitely has potential that should be fostered. For Tamena, we wish for people who want to do more with their dog than just walks and dog training classes. Pointer dogs are only conditionally suitable for families with small children. Larger children with a love for trick training or search work would certainly like Tamena. Whether she has a pointing instinct is still uncertain. Active people, ideally with pointer dog experience, and a dog friend for playing and learning would be perfect for the little clever female dog. About Tamena (vermittelt)

What life with Tamena (vermittelt) looks like

Tamena (vermittelt) is a small adult border collie dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. in Zornheim.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tamena (vermittelt), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tamena (vermittelt)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tamena (vermittelt) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tamena (vermittelt) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tamena (vermittelt) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tamena (vermittelt) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tamena (vermittelt) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
