Denali

Border Collie · Female · Adult · 6 years

We were able to rescue Denali together with a few other dogs from a kill shelter. Unfortunately, we know nothing about her previous life, and we don't know how or why she ended up in the kill shelter. Today, Denali is waiting for a fresh start at our partner animal shelter, Allatbarat, in Hungary. Denali is a lovable and friendly dog who quickly wins people over with her wonderful personality. She is approachable and loves to make contact with humans. She thrives on attention, petting, and engaging in activities with her people. Denali is a dog whose charming nature immediately captivates everyone—and you simply can't help but fall in love with her right away. In her future home, Denali still has a lot to learn. The basics of dog training, daily routines, and living harmoniously with her family are still high on her to-do list. We’re looking for people who enjoy patiently teaching her all these things and guiding her step by step into her new life. Denali gets along well with other dogs. We’re seeking a loving home for Denali—one where her people will support and challenge her, provide her with a sense of security, and share many wonderful moments together. We can picture Denali thriving in almost any environment—whether it’s a suburban setting or a more rural area, she’ll adapt and settle in beautifully. With Denali, you’ll gain a loyal companion who will make life easy and enjoyable for you. RegularLabs.EmailProtector.unCloak("ep_a6f43b0d"); RegularLabs.EmailProtector.unCloak("ep_1bed9b3d");

About Denali

What life with Denali looks like

Denali is a large adult border collie dog waiting at Pfotenhilfe Sauerland e.V. in Marsberg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Denali, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Denali?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pfotenhilfe Sauerland e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Denali on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Denali if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pfotenhilfe Sauerland e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Denali already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Denali isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pfotenhilfe Sauerland e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Denali and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
