Adopt Tango

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Puppy · 4 months

Tango is a very loving and gentle Pyrenees herding dog, even though life has already been unkind to him. But that’s why, dear animal lover, you’re looking for a dog from an animal shelter, isn’t it? Because you don’t look away, you don’t ignore animal suffering, and you’re ready to listen to Tango’s story, even if it’s sad. Thank you for that. Tango was purchased as a puppy by a person in Baeza who barely took care of the little puppy from the first day. Day in and day out, the little one was exposed to the hot sun. Neighbors observed that he never received fresh water and barely any food. Tango quickly became emaciated, apathetic, and began to give up. Now, the neighbors, who felt great pity, started to feed the sad, weak dog and give him water. Despite his physical condition, the neglected puppy turned into a beautiful and imposing young dog. As if Tango didn’t suffer enough, this owner began to beat and severely abuse the dog. Neighbors also witnessed this. Since Tango did not have a chip, as it turned out later, and the owner made no claim, animal welfare workers caught Tango and saved his life. It’s worth noting that despite his ordeal, Tango never left his “home.” When the animal welfare workers tried to catch Tango, they had to realize that the poor fellow had become very suspicious. Who wouldn’t be? Of course, he feared being beaten again. Tango had never experienced loving petting, no fingers gently stroking his fur, no kind words. But now, everything should change. Fortunately, the live trap worked well, and the dog was finally secured. How wonderful that the animal welfare workers and, of course, the neighbors didn’t give up on the dog. After two long years of suffering, all the compassionate people could finally breathe a sigh of relief. Tango is an intelligent dog and quickly recognized that the animal welfare workers, who now take care of him, have his best interests at heart. Still a little shy and reserved, but overall friendly and willing, he lets himself be led a little on the leash. He always stays by the side of the person, doesn’t pull, and doesn’t rush ahead. A dog who wants to go through thick and thin with his people. Now, one final step is needed so that Tango can finally be happy. So, we hope with all the people who have selflessly cared for Tango that we can find a family, preferably a couple or an individual, who will give Tango a forever home. A garden would be nice, where our gentle giant could nap in the shade under trees in the summer. But the most important thing is an unbreakable family bond and people with hearts full of love.

About Tango

What life with Tango looks like

Tango is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tango, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tango?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tango on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tango if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tango already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tango isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tango and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
