Meet Tanja Tanja was found in a terrible condition after being hit by a car in April 2026 near the old Police Station in Naxos town. She was about 6 years old at the time. The accident left one of her hind legs and her tail paralysed, and tragically, she also suffered a miscarriage. Her road to recovery was long and difficult, but Tanja proved to be a real fighter. After several months of cortisone treatment and dedicated care, she has made a remarkable recovery. She has regained movement in her leg and tail and can now urinate normally, although she occasionally experiences a little bowel incontinence. Despite everything she has been through, Tanja is an incredibly affectionate and gentle cat who loves cuddles and human attention. She has a wonderful personality, gets along well with other cats, and has so much love to give. This sweet girl has overcome so much and deserves a future filled with comfort, kindness, and care. Medical condition Tanja lives with FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus – a slow acting species –specific virus that weakens a cat’s immune system, making them susceptible to infections. ) Because of this chronic illness Tanja cannot be adopted into a typical home and will remain at our shelter, where we ensure she receives lifelong care, safety, and comfort.
