Tao

European Shorthair · Male · Adult · 9 years

Good, cuddly, and sweet—people, children, cats. Hello everyone... I’m Tao, and I’m a European cat born in May 2017. For many years, I had a home and a person who loved me dearly. Unfortunately, my human passed away due to a serious illness, and my life has changed. Now I’m staying in foster care in Verona together with my sister, who’s also been left alone like me. We’re two sweet, kind cats, used to living in a family environment. We don’t ask for much: a quiet place, a comfortable bed, and someone to love us. Despite the pain we’ve experienced, we still have plenty of trust in people and hope that someone will open their heart—and their home—to us. At 9 years old, we’re no longer kittens, but we still have so much affection to give, and all we wish for is to have a family again. I’m looking for a responsible person or family who’s ready to welcome me and give me back the peace and serenity I’ve lost. It would be wonderful if I could be adopted together with my sister, but we’ll also consider other solutions that guarantee us love and safety. I’m vaccinated and have tested negative for all diseases. I’m currently in foster care in Verona and can move to a new home in central-northern Italy.

About Tao

What life with Tao looks like

Tao is a adult european shorthair cat waiting at I Pelosetti di Silvana in Italy.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tao, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tao?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. I Pelosetti di Silvana handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tao on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tao if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — I Pelosetti di Silvana will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tao already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tao isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with I Pelosetti di Silvana early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tao and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
