Tara

Cane Corso · Female · Young · 3 years

Tara is a beautiful 3-year-old Cane Corso who weighs 40 kg of love. She arrived at the shelter due to a change of circumstances beyond her control: a family member unfortunately developed severe dog allergies. Tara is a very affectionate dog. She is a dog full of energy who enjoys physical activities and long walks. When she is enthusiastic, she can be a bit rough, without any ill intent. Her compatibility ✅ Children: she likes them, but can jump under the effect of excitement. Given her size, this can be impressive, especially for the youngest. ❌ Cats: Tara does not get along with cats. ⚠️ Dogs: on a leash, she is very reactive when crossing paths with her peers. On the other hand, she lived without difficulty with another Cane Corso in her former home. Good management and support will therefore be necessary to continue her learning. ✅ Solitude: she stayed alone without problem when living with her canine companion. On the other hand, we do not yet know how she behaves when she is alone. The ideal family We are looking for a family with previous dog experience for Tara, with good knowledge of the breed which would be a real asset. She will not be placed as a first dog. Her future family must be aware of her strength and size, in order to be able to manage her calmly, especially when crossing paths with other dogs. Tara will need available and invested people, ready to continue her education, socialization and help her better manage her interactions with her peers. She will also appreciate a family who can offer her long walks, varied activities and physical activities adapted to her needs. 📞 Do you think you are Tara's family? About Tara

What life with Tara looks like

Tara is a young adult cane corso dog waiting at SPA Valais in Uvrier.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tara, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tara?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA Valais handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tara on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tara if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA Valais will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tara already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tara isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA Valais early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tara and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
