Tara

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Tara is a lovely 1-year-old cat who has already given birth to six adorable kittens. Despite her young age, she has had quite an experience already. When the kittens were just one week old, Tara hid them on a balcony, believing it was the safest place for them from the cold and dangers outside. Fortunately, they were discovered by a caring resident who helped them move to a loving foster home where they could finally feel safe and at peace. Now, her kittens are becoming more independent and no longer need her constant attention. Tara is looking for her forever home where she can simply be a cat. At first, she might be shy around strangers as new situations make her cautious and she needs some time to adjust and gain trust. If you give her this time and don't expect anything from her, she will show you what a sweetheart she is. She loves being petted gently on the head and cheeks. Tara enjoys being close to her humans, lying next to them, and accompanying them in their daily lives. She also likes to chat with people. As she is still young, she would like to have a friendly, social cat as a companion in her new home. She doesn't want to live alone. Tara believes she would love to play - but her six little whirlwinds had more energy than her so far. That's why she often let them take the lead and watch them play. Maybe in her new home, she can finally discover playing for herself. Her biggest wish is a home with low traffic outdoor access so that after settling in, she can enjoy nature and explore the world. If this isn't possible, she would like a spacious apartment with secure windows and an interconnected balcony where she can breathe fresh air and observe her surroundings. Tara is vaccinated, spayed, and ready to move into her new home soon. If you think she might be right for you, tell us about yourself, your living situation, and who lives with you already. Then you are welcome to visit her at the foster home. Maybe you are just the family she has been waiting for all this time. I look forward to hearing from you!

DE·Show original

About Tara

What life with Tara looks like

Tara is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Katzenhilfe Stuttgart e.V..

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tara, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tara?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Katzenhilfe Stuttgart e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tara on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tara if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Katzenhilfe Stuttgart e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tara already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tara isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Katzenhilfe Stuttgart e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tara and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
