adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Tarja can stay forever in your foster home! Her story: Tarja is a ca. 1-year-old, beautiful Malinois-Mix female dog with a shoulder height of about 55–60 cm. She combines athleticism with a big heart and a healthy dose of humor. Tarja exudes energy, loves to move, and is simultaneously a real snuggle bug once she’s settled. Typical of her breed, she requires mental and physical stimulation, but it’s equally important for her to learn to relax and take things easy. She gets along very well with other dogs, loves to play, and is socially outgoing. Malinois are active, confident, and trainable dogs that need a lot of mental stimulation. Not only is physical exercise important, but so is head and nose work. A prey drive is also not out of the question. Malinois are also vigilant and protective of their people. They require a good, positively reinforcing training. Quick movements and loud, overstimulated environments can still unsettle them – here, she needs a confident primary caregiver who gives her security and helps her acclimate to new situations at her own pace. Tarja is ready to go through thick and thin with her person if she gets the necessary support. Whether as a single princess or in a multi-dog household – Tarja will be a faithful companion for active people who show her the world with patience, understanding, and a touch of humor. Tarja is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, treated for fleas, and dewormed for her new home. She can be adopted now. Who are Tarja's heart's people? We look forward to your message! Many thanks to Justine! You named Tarja with her name. Date: 02.02.

Vielen Dank an Justine! Du hast Tarja ihren Namen geschenkt. Stand: 02.02.2025

About Tarja

What life with Tarja looks like

Tarja is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tarja, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tarja?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tarja on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tarja if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tarja already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tarja isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tarja and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
