Adopt Tarta

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 4 months

Tarta was brought to Ekostraz protect shelter after a winter intervention. It was she who ran out from behind the building and led us to her tiny puppies, hidden in a collapsing shed during a freezing cold. She herself was thin and frozen, yet she carefully took care of her children until the end. Today her puppies are safe and have their own homes. Now it's Tartas turn. She is approximately 3-year-old female dog with a reddish-brown coat, a black mask on her muzzle. She is medium-sized, very loved, gentle and longs for human contact. A favorite of all volunteers. When walking Tarta is well-behaved and walks nicely on a leash. Sometimes when she feels uncertain, she tries to turn back. In such moments, a calm person who shows her that nothing bad is happening and that they can continue without rushing helps the most. She gets along well with other dogs and is calm and not pushy in interactions with them. She is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. We are looking for a home full of warmth, peace and closeness for her. One where someone not only gives her a place to live, but also helps her rediscover everyday life - walks, rest, routine and simply being together. Tarta deserves to finally have her person and her place after everything she has been through. Would you like to meet Tartas?

Tarta trafiła do azylu Ekostraży po zimowej interwencji. To właśnie ona wybiegła zza budynku i doprowadziła nas do swoich maleńkich szczeniąt, ukrytych w rozpadającej się budzie podczas siarczystego mrozu. Opowiemy więcej i umówimy spacer zapoznawczy. Jej szczeniaki znalazły już domy. Teraz czas, by swój dom znalazła także Tarta.

About Tarta

What life with Tarta looks like

Tarta is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja EkoStraż in Wrocław.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tarta, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tarta?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja EkoStraż handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tarta on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tarta if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja EkoStraż will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tarta already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tarta isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja EkoStraż early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tarta and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
