Tarzan

Male · Adult · 8 years

Chicai and Tarzan, two family dogs looking for a new home! Chicai, a Swiss Shepherd, and Tarzan, a mixed Shepherd, are the dogs of a couple who, due to their age and changed circumstances, can no longer care for their dogs. Their hearts are broken, but life sometimes puts us in situations we never wanted to be in. We would like to put them in the spotlight so that perhaps someone will step up for these older four-legged friends. Chicai is still very fit and loves her family, her walks, and her attention. She is a very sweet and affectionate girl. Tarzan, like Chicai, is a big cuddler, is still quite energetic, loves playing with the ball, and is your best friend. He enjoys walks, and does them well, but sometimes pulls on the leash when meeting other dogs, but he is trainable. Both dogs are used to cats, but will need to get to know the new cats in their new environment. They are true family dogs and know how to behave in the house. Chicai and Tarzan can be placed together, but also separately. They are two dogs in need of one person who wants to make them happy, now that their owners can no longer do so. They would be so grateful to you!

About Tarzan

What life with Tarzan looks like

Tarzan is an adult dog waiting at ACE / SHIN (Animal Care Espana) in Spain.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee. Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tarzan, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tarzan?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ACE / SHIN (Animal Care Espana) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tarzan on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tarzan if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ACE / SHIN (Animal Care Espana) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Tarzan already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tarzan isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ACE / SHIN (Animal Care Espana) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tarzan and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
