Taubsi

Male · Young · 3 years

Taubsi is not deaf, despite initial impressions - he just sounds that way sometimes. When he was found in Bonn, he was unneutered, unmarked, and quite thin; we're still working on the latter. Initially, the large white cat was invisible in the cat house and would hiss briefly before allowing visitors to approach; now he follows us around the room during cleaning, curious and clingy, demanding attention. He chats happily and can also complain loudly. Unfortunately, Taubsi not only sometimes misjudges his tone but also tends to get overexcited. He has a lot of energy, gets easily pumped up, and can then (probably as a displacement behavior) also use his teeth. He doesn't really bite; it seems more like very uncertain love bites. If Taubsi settles into a home, gains trust, and calms down, this behavior may likely subside. Nevertheless, he is not a beginner or child-friendly cat. Taubsi gets along with the other cats in the room, but he doesn't necessarily need them to be happy. He values much time and interaction with humans. Since Taubsi is not deaf and to better engage and challenge him, we are placing him as an outdoor cat.

About Taubsi

What life with Taubsi looks like

Taubsi is a large young adult cat waiting at Tierheim Bonn in Bonn.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Taubsi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Taubsi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Bonn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Taubsi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Taubsi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Bonn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Taubsi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Taubsi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Bonn early rather than rehoming privately; they know Taubsi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
