Taylor

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 10 years

Finally, Tasso has caught up and all documents are complete! Taylor could finally be rehomed in February 2017 to a great home in Wurzen! …………………………………………………………………………………………………. My name is Taylor. I am male, will be neutered and was born in 2009. I have been waiting since September 2016 for a new home. I am about 40 cm tall. This is what my caregivers say about me: Taylor is a surrender dog who was given up by us due to lack of time. Taylor is a real character; he initially burned off his energy from lack of movement with two female dogs during the first few days here. Taylor is a friendly dog, sometimes a bit unsure, but that quickly passes. He is healthy and lively, walks well, plays and runs happily, a dream dog. His behavior and leash training should definitely be worked on, and Taylor may need to learn mental stimulation with his new owner, as it was simply neglected due to time constraints in his previous home. Taylor is a fixed little guy and will surely quickly understand that it's fun to achieve new training goals together and then cuddle afterwards. Taylor is not a barker, he can stay alone very well, is a good passenger and is used to living in an apartment. He is an ideal first dog and can also be rehomed into a family with proper care. Since he is very happy with his newly found female dog companions, it would be nice if he could be rehomed as a second dog with a female dog, as he has not met other animals so far. Who wants to enjoy the big new freedom with this funny guy…??? The descriptions are impressions and recordings of the animal in our animal shelter and our foster homes. Each animal can develop differently in their new home. This cat is to be kept indoors only.

About Taylor

What life with Taylor looks like

Taylor is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Schkortitz in Grimma.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Taylor, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Taylor?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Schkortitz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Taylor on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Taylor if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Schkortitz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Taylor already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Taylor isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Schkortitz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Taylor and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
