Adopt Taylor

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

Taylor originally came from Hungary, was then passed on, and had to leave its home due to health reasons. The small male dog has approximately Corgi-like dimensions and is likely to have some Collie genes in it. Taylor is very cool and adaptable in nature. He is the ideal ‘companion dog’ who can go anywhere with the right people, is always up for an adventure, but is also content to be part of a busy everyday life and have someone to orient himself around. The male dog can show seriousness and steadfastness, but also has an incredibly playful and laid-back side. He is very attached to his trusted people, but generally copes well with a secondary role. Being in the spotlight too much overloads Taylor; a typical Collie mix will then quickly take on the responsibility of looking after his pack and keeping others at bay. Out of such an extremely unfortunate ‘falling situation’, Taylor once defended his person on his front yard and bit off another dog, which is why he has a leash or muzzle requirement. However, there are good chances that he will be able to get rid of this again in about half a year when he is re-evaluated. During an assessment with us, he has shown his best side, as we know and expect from him. If he doesn’t feel responsible, he is the simplest dog at all. He approaches everyone else openly, allows being petted. Passersby are completely irrelevant to him, and he ignores all external stimuli. As the fussy one, he leaves all people, dogs, or other encounters behind and is so stable that he simply walks along without any human having to manage big situations. He attaches himself to his primary caregiver and then walks along – come what may! When it comes to other dogs, Taylor shows himself to be very cool and compatible. He lives in a boys’ flat, regularly runs with various larger dog groups, does not seek out stress, and is still someone who knows who he is and who can rise above a lot. For Taylor, we are looking for people who are firmly rooted in their lives, have a clear idea of who they are and what they want, and are looking for a cool companion. People who take him seriously without putting everything on a pedestal, who see the world with a relaxed attitude, and can still provide Taylor with a clear framework. About Taylor

What life with Taylor looks like

Taylor is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein für Tirol in Innsbruck.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Currently requires leash/muzzle due to protective incident, up for reassessment in 6 months

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Taylor, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Taylor?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein für Tirol handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Taylor on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Taylor if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein für Tirol will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Taylor already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Taylor isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein für Tirol early rather than rehoming privately; they know Taylor and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
