💙 Max 💙 JADR 📍 Location: Croatia, slightly outside of Zagreb - can be visited at any time 📅 Born: 05.10.2023 ⚖️ Weight: ca. 20 kg 💉 Health: vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, EU pet passport available 🤝 Compatibility with others: Loves people, very social with other dogs, children likely no problem (not yet explicitly tested) 🥣 Feeder: Jürgen Sch. Max' wonderful character 🐶 👫 People-oriented & playful - Max loves spending time with people, playing, and cuddling. 😘 Küsschen-King - He enthusiastically distributes loving kisses. 🚘 Travel-loving & well-behaved - Max travels easily in the car and walks reliably on the leash. 🐕 Social & friendly - At his foster home, he gets along wonderfully with other dogs. His story 😢 Max was adopted as a baby from a Croatian animal shelter and lived almost a year with a family in Zagreb. But unfortunately, the family could no longer take adequate care of him. When they wanted to bring him back to the animal shelter, our foster mom immediately stepped in to save him from new heartache. So Max was able to move to a loving foster home, where he now awaits his second chance. 🍀 Max's Dream Home 🏡 Max is currently in the pubertal phase, where he sometimes tries to test his boundaries. Therefore, we are looking for experienced people in dog care who can offer him clear structures and loving guidance. His "babysitter-aunt" in the foster home consistently shows him how to behave, and Max gratefully accepts this guidance. With the right instruction, patience, and attendance in dog training classes, Max will become a loyal, well-balanced companion. So you can help 💌 ❗ Adopt - Give Max his forever home.

About Max

What life with Max looks like

Max is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hund sucht Hütte in Austria.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Max, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Max?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hund sucht Hütte handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Max on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Max if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hund sucht Hütte will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Max already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Max isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hund sucht Hütte early rather than rehoming privately; they know Max and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
