adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Tayto has found a home! His story: 04617 Kriebitzsch. Tayto was allowed to travel to his foster home in early April and is now waiting for his forever home. After being described as rather reserved and shy at the shelter, the golden puppy blossoms in his first home from day one. He is joyful and it is beautifully clear to see. Tayto shows himself to be inquisitive and very eager to learn. In a short time, he has already learned a lot. He is already house-trained and knows the word "no" quite well. He can sit and stay, is easily washable, and enjoys the drying and brushing. In the house, he is not overexcited but takes his time to rest. The handsome young fellow walks really well on the leash; he doesn’t pull but goes calmly and quietly. He is not afraid, rather interested and inquisitive, but always also cautious. By now, he lets other people and also children pet him, but only briefly. Other dogs he meets very friendly. During car rides, he is loving and quiet, but still does not feel completely comfortable yet. This is being worked on. Household noises don’t bother him, he finds the vacuum cleaner totally fascinating. Also outside, he remains calm: whether car, bicycle, lawn mower, he sits, waits, and observes, taking everything in. The word "car" is known to him, so he always goes to the side and waits until it passes. Tayto is really joyful! In the first year of life, puppies should be as little alone as possible. Additionally, the more demanding pubertal phase is approaching. The hormone chaos turns the lives of the little rascals upside down. They “forget” often everything they have learned so far and their ears are on high alert. Therefore, it is especially important in this phase to be consistent— but loving—in training. And there is also a good news: This phase will pass! The little scruffy can be microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas to travel to his home. He packs his EU pet passport into his travel bag and his travel bag is already packed at the cage door. When will the cage finally open? A foster home would also be a springboard into his new life! Tayto wants to enrich your life! Who gives him the chance? Many thanks to Daniela K.! You gave Tayto his name and thus an identity! A big thank you also goes to Ilka T., who took on a monthly sponsorship for Tayto. As of: 24.04.

Stand: 24.04.2024

About Tayto

What life with Tayto looks like

Tayto is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tayto, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tayto?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tayto on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tayto if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tayto already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tayto isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tayto and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
