Ted

Male Β· Young Β· 1 year

Introduction: Ted is a fun busy boy who will be looking for a home to build his confidence and slowly build positive associations. He weighs 15kg, a similar size to a small Springer Spaniel. Home wanted: Ted will be looking for a fun home where he will have access to his own secure garden. He would prefer a quieter home in a quiet area. He is mostly housetrained, used to travelling, used to being left for short periods but may prefer a home with company. Behaviour towards people/children: Ted is a timid boy, who can take his time to build trust and form a bond with some people. Would need a gentle approach to making friends, though tends to make friends quickly with calm gentle people. Once he is bonded, he is cuddly and affectionate. Would prefer a home with older teens, ideally aged 16+ or adult only. He would prefer no young visiting children. Other animals: Ted is social with most other dogs but can be worried by vocal dogs. May be able to live with another dog of similar size if personalities match. He has strong prey drive and could not live with cats, birds or small animals. Additional needs (behavioural/extra support): Ted will require a supportive home with an understanding of his anxious behaviour and helping continue his housetraining. May need some support around other dogs. Will need adopters to visit him a few times to build his trust.

About Ted

What life with Ted looks like

Ted is a small young adult dog waiting at Raystede Centre in Ringmer.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ted, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ted?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Raystede Centre handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ted on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ted if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Raystede Centre will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Ted already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ted isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Raystede Centre early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ted and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
