Teddy

Tibetan Terrier · Male · Adult · 4 years

Meet Teddy! Teddy arrived at Battersea after he was found straying so we sadly have no history for his first few years of life. Since arriving, Teddy has found kennels tough at times but has shown to be a friendly and affectionate boy with his people and excitable and playful when interacting with other dogs. Teddy can be a strong on lead, but he has shown to really enjoy getting his nose down and sniffing all the smells, plants and trees- having a good explore and playing with toys. Teddy would benefit from having new owners who have some experience with bull breeds and or separation related behaviours. Would also benefit from having experience in handling strong dogs. Although he can be overwhelmed by kennel life, he has been nothing but loving with staff, and true to his name, is a real Teddy-bear. He loves to be with his people and has so much love to give. He is fun, affectionate and playful and will make a wonderful companion to his future person/people. He is looking to be the only dog in his new home, and can live with teenagers. He will also need a quieter area away from the inner city and his own private garden. If you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about little Teddy, you can e-mail our rehoming team on to register your interest.

About Teddy

What life with Teddy looks like

Teddy is a large adult tibetan terrier dog waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Requires secure garden and patient owners due to shy, sensitive nature

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Teddy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Teddy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Teddy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Teddy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Teddy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Teddy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Teddy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
