Teddy

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Teddy, the path of trust is built step by step Teddy is a young cat, taken in after being trapped on a site in Brest. His early life likely didn't allow him to experience caresses, the comfort of a home, or the proximity of humans. Today, Teddy still remains on his guard. He observes a lot, thinks before acting, and needs time to feel safe. The slightest unusual noise or a too-rapid gesture can worry and push him to retreat or hiss out of fear. Fortunately, Teddy has a small weakness that greatly helps us build a connection with him: food. He is a very big eater, and over the weeks, treats have gradually associated the human presence with something positive. Thanks to this, he now accepts some gentle and calm caresses. Life in the shelter remains complicated for him. Between the noises, the comings and goings, and the limited environment of a cage, it's hard for him to fully relax and show his full potential. Every progress is a victory with Teddy, and he already shows us that he is capable of moving forward.

FR·Show original

About Teddy

What life with Teddy looks like

Teddy is a extra-large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Arche de Noé Brest in France.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Teddy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Teddy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Arche de Noé Brest handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Teddy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Teddy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Arche de Noé Brest will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Teddy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Teddy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Arche de Noé Brest early rather than rehoming privately; they know Teddy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
