Adopt Teddy

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Hi, we are Pimmetje and Teddy. I, Teddy, am a young, cute, slightly dominant guinea pig. I came to the shelter because I had a disagreement with my previous companion. Here at the shelter, I am paired with Pimmetje, who had been alone for a while. Pimmetje accepts that I'm the boss, so that's much better. Sometimes he grumbles a bit, but I don't mind much. As long as he shares his food with me, we'll figure it out together. And I just steal the veggies from his bowl. Pimmetje has become a bit more active since I've been with him, so he finds it nice to have a companion. We don't always lie next to each other; we both look for our own cozy spot. But we do support each other. If we find something scary, we seek each other out quickly. We are looking for a home with a spacious living area for us together. If you'd like to meet us, please email our caretakers. Greetings, Pimmetje and Teddy. Shelter for Stray Animals Hengelo Zilverstraat 30 7554 NH Hengelo 46.75.18.812 RSIN:

About Teddy

What life with Teddy looks like

Teddy is a young adult mixed breed animal waiting at Dierenopvang Hengelo in Hengelo.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Teddy far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Teddy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Teddy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenopvang Hengelo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Teddy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Teddy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenopvang Hengelo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Teddy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Teddy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenopvang Hengelo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Teddy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
