Teddy

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 8 years

Male Maltese Born 20.12.2018 Surrendered animal Neutered yes / [] no In shelter since 18.09.2026 ________________________ Teddy was surrendered to us due to personal circumstances. He was taken over from what unfortunately appears to be very poor living conditions a few months prior. The little guy is friendly, very affectionate, and very cuddly. He enjoys attention, likes to be everywhere with his people, and is very sweet about it. He quickly overcomes small uncertainties when he gets guidance and can rely on his people for it. Teddy gets along well with other dogs and would very much like to move in with a suitable friend or girlfriend, but this is not a must. He was neutered with us due to testicular changes and has had two dental cleanings, losing a total of 19 teeth. Teddy shows himself very well on a leash and orients himself to his human during walks. He would also like to learn a bit more - small tasks and exercises strengthen the bond between him and his people and he enjoys doing things together. So far, Teddy has unfortunately not learned to be house trained, his future home should be flexible and train him step by step. We very much hope that Teddy will finally find a reliable, loving place after many years of neglect and unstable conditions that will meet his needs and give him the great fortune. ________________________ (as of 27.09.2026) (Click on the pictures to see them in full size!) It can always happen that an animal shows or develops differently due to changed circumstances, both here in the shelter and in the new home. männlich Malteser Geboren 20.12.2018 Abgabetier Kastriert ja / [] nein Im Tierheim seit 18.09.2026 ________________________ Teddy wurde aufgrund persönlicher Umstände bei uns abgegeben. About Teddy

What life with Teddy looks like

Teddy is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Marburg in Marburg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Teddy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Teddy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Marburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Teddy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Teddy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Marburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Teddy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Teddy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Marburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Teddy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
