Adopt Teddy

Mixed Breed · Male

Teddy is a gorgeous young Staffie with a big heart and lots of love to give. He’s looking for a fresh start after a relationship breakdown and would make a loyal and affectionate companion for the right family. This handsome boy has grown up around children and is gentle and well-mannered, though we feel he’d be happiest in a calm home with teenagers rather than younger children, just while he continues to build his confidence. Teddy walks nicely on the lead (even if his route isn’t always straight!) and travels beautifully in the car. His recall could use a bit of polishing, but he’s eager to learn and responds well to patience and praise. He hasn’t lived with other pets, so we’re not sure how he’d be with cats, but he has enjoyed friendly playtime with other dogs he’s met. Teddy can be a little vocal when meeting new people — especially men — but once he’s had time to get to know you, he’s affectionate, gentle, and loves attention. He takes treats softly, enjoys his walks, and quickly relaxes once he feels comfortable. He’s currently starting some work with a trainer to help him build confidence and learn better social manners (like not getting mouthy when people leave a room). He’s a clever boy who just needs consistency, kindness, and a bit of guidance. Teddy can be left alone for short periods without any issues, and with a few introductions and some patience, he’ll reward you with loyalty, love, and lots of tail wags. Because of his initial nervousness, we recommend several meet-and-greets before adoption — but once you win him over, you’ll have a devoted friend for life. Please apply today so he can start his new life. (01925) 748638Contact Us HERESlutchers Lane – Warrington – WA1 1NA All animal meetings by appointment only. About Teddy

What life with Teddy looks like

Teddy is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Warrington Animal Welfare in Warrington.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Teddy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Teddy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Warrington Animal Welfare handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Teddy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Teddy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Warrington Animal Welfare will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Teddy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Teddy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Warrington Animal Welfare early rather than rehoming privately; they know Teddy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
