adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! This magical male dog was picked up by our animal welfare workers* and brought to a foster home in Baia Mare, Romania. He lives in a yard where, despite the limited time, he is lovingly cared for. He was given the name Tequila and has captured the hearts of those who now care for him. It's likely he was abandoned, as he shows to be well-mannered and people-oriented, suggesting he likely once had a home. It's even sadder to think that such a sunbeam was so heartlessly abandoned by his "family." We have promised Tequila to find him a new family. A family that will always love him, care for him, and give him the life he deserves. Tequila is a ca. 3.5-year-old charming male dog, standing at a shoulder height of ca. 55 cm and weighing ca. 20 kg. He belongs to the medium-sized dogs. Tequila is a real eye-catcher with tri-colored fluffy fur – black, brown, and white blend into a unique pattern. His especially striking facial marking, which enhances his loyal, brown eyes, is particularly noticeable. A loving gaze that melts hearts. He also impresses with his very friendly demeanor towards both people and fellow animals. It's likely that Tequila already got to sniff the ABCs of dog training, as he has already proudly demonstrated that commands like sit and shake are not entirely unknown to him. He is simply a great dog. Tequila's appearance suggests that he might have herding dog genes. Herding dogs bring many great qualities. You get a loyal and faithful companion who can best flourish in a rural home with an enclosed garden. When you delve into the qualities of herding dogs, you'll find that they are independent personalities that impress with their intelligence and imposing presence. Herding dogs make independent decisions. Therefore, it's important to familiarize yourself with the qualities of such breeds beforehand, as consistency and empathy from the owner are essential. Routines and guidelines are helpful for leading a great life with these wonderful dogs. People who have experience with herding dogs will never want another breed as a companion. We cannot rule out herding dog genes either. Herding dogs are attentive, intelligent, and want to work closely with their people. They learn new things quickly and love to be given tasks – whether through head work, joint activities, or playful training. Despite this great starting point, we must assume that Tequila still doesn't know all the commands of the "Dog 1×1." It certainly won't all work out on the first try. That's why it's even more important to consistently and lovingly convey family rules and to forgive the occasional mishap. We are looking for an active family for Tequila who is eager to work with him and to challenge him both physically and mentally. Nose work, tricks, carrying, etc., could bring him great joy. Positive dog training classes could support this process. With loving, consistent training, he will surely develop into a loyal companion who always stays by his people's side – ready for every adventure. Tequila is ready for his future. Are you ready for a future with Tequila?. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Wir danken Dorothea A.! Stand: 16.01.2026

About Tequila

What life with Tequila looks like

Tequila is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tequila, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tequila?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tequila on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tequila if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tequila already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tequila isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tequila and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
