Terry

Yorkshire Terrier · Male · Adult · 8 years

Support and Health How much training will I need? Needs settling in Can I be left alone? Yes Terry has done a few hours home alone previously but this was always in the company of another dog. He has the potential do this again once he’s had his training refreshed and settled into his new home. Do I have any medical conditions? History of Terry has historic medical conditions, namely coughing, a dental, a cyst that has been removed, he also has a current medical condition, namely blindness, that will require consideration before this pet is rehomed. Our rehoming team will be able to give you further information if you apply to rehome them and you are a successful match. We would also advise that any medical conditions, be that historic or ongoing, are discussed with your own vet prior to taking them home. Who I can live with Can I live with dogs? No Can I live with cats? Yes, conditionally - That will co-exist with him Can I live with small pets? Yes, conditionally - Securely housed small pets that can be kept separately if needed Additional information Terry gets excited when he hears other dogs nearby and will bark to show his excitement. When he meets other calm dogs he has shared nice sniffs and happily continued on his walk. Terry can have some calm walking buddies in his new home as he does enjoy meeting dogs out and about. He can also have calm visiting dogs to the home. Family and environment What kind of family am I looking for? Terry can live with children aged 8+. He’s a very loving little man who gets very excited when his favourite people are around. Terry loves being around his people, whether he’s having a snooze on the sofa next to them, or curled up in the office while they’re working, he just wants to be with his people! What type of environment would suit me? Terry will need a secure, private garden in his new home so that he’s got a safe space to potter around and enjoy having a sniff. Once he’s figured out the layout of the garden he should be able to find his way around without bumping into things. About Terry Terry is a sweet little Terrier with a big personality and a lovely zest for life. Although Terry has no eyes, he doesn’t let that stop him from enjoying life just like any other dog. He absolutely loves being with his people and thrives on companionship. Terry also enjoys exploring the world around him, taking his time to sniff and investigate on walks. Terry is a wonderful reminder that a disability doesn’t have to stand in the way of a happy, fulfilling life. With his affectionate nature, curious spirit, and love of people, Terry has so much to offer his future family. If you’re looking for a sweet, special little companion who will bring plenty of love and character into your life, Terry could be the perfect match.

About Terry

What life with Terry looks like

Terry is a large adult yorkshire terrier dog waiting at Woodgreen Pets Charity in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Terry, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Terry?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Woodgreen Pets Charity handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Terry on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Terry if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Woodgreen Pets Charity will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Terry already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Terry isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Woodgreen Pets Charity early rather than rehoming privately; they know Terry and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
