Adopt Tery

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 12 years

Tery is now a 12-year-old female Alpine spaniel. In February 2024, she was hit by a snake and completely paralyzed in her hind legs. The original owner decided not to operate. After an agreement, she was surrendered and handed over to the Rescue Veterinary Service Petmedic, who decided to try to treat her and Tery was brought into our care. The operation was successful and Tery began rehabilitation at Physiodog Praha. Together with her caregivers, Tery trained extensively, and the effort and hard work paid off and Tery can now run and enjoy life as much as possible, she is a very happy dog. Terynka is very friendly towards people and appreciates every pat, we have not tested her relationship with children, but due to her health condition, we cannot recommend her for small children. She handles regular handling (wiping paws, lifting, brushing) without problems, it's good to be secured with a muzzle for larger treatments including veterinary ones. She is uncertain from this, is afraid and tries to bite if someone wants to give her an injection. She is usually friendly towards other dogs, but is scared of many wild dogs and then growls and barks. Regarding other animals, she is a big hunter and does not tolerate cats in the home. For a treat, she will even do a somersault, knows basic commands, but does not always obey them 100%. She walks nicely on a leash. Tery likes lying on the couch very much, so when she is left alone at home, it is advisable that she is secured against falling (she is used to her little house). She doesn't destroy anything at home. When she is alone at home, she doesn't bark, only greets the owner cheerfully with barking upon arrival. Terynka would appreciate a house with access to a garden where she could explore and sunbathe, it is not suitable for her to have to walk up and down stairs, as this could lead to another snake bite. Currently, Tery attends rehabilitation once a month, this frequency is recommended for life.

About Tery

What life with Tery looks like

Tery is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Dogpoint in Malotice-Kostelec nad Černými lesy.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇨🇿Adopting from Czech Republic

Frequently asked

Adopting Tery, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tery?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogpoint handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tery on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tery if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogpoint will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tery already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tery isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogpoint early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tery and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (CS). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
